Description
Thank you for choosing Avionics Systems operation and maintenance as the text you will use to help guide your students on their way to becoming professional competent Avionics Technicians. The author of this book, Jim Wasson, has designed, installed, and/or maintained all the systems discussed in this book and more. His career in avionics spans for more than 22 years as a graduate electronics Engineer, licensed avionics technician and A&P mechanic, and more recently as an instructor. This book concludes with an introduction to some of the more sophisticated avionic systems found primarily in larger transport and business jet aircraft. Chapter Twelve, titled Flight Management and Display/Control Systems, also discusses EFIS. However, to fully understand Flight Management Systems, one must be familiar with the principles of operation of Inertial Navigation Systems and other long-range navigation systems, such as VLF/Omega, Loran, and GPS. These systems are discussed in the context of FMS operation in Chapter Eleven. The following text provides the answers to the review questions found at the end of each chapter, along with some supplemental material to help you guide the student through the material found in the text.
